چکیده
Iron deficiency in athletes induces negative effects on their athletic performances. The present study aimed to examine a possibility of non-invasive screening with urine ferritin value for iron by examining its association serum value. A group 30 male college soccer players,13 endurance runners, 22 female volleyball players, and 9 long distance runners voluntarily participated this study. Blood samples were collected before breakfast. urinary the special tube morning analyzed ELISA accordance manufacture’s specification. was significantly correlated (r=0.32, p<0.05). In addition, corresponding improved whose values less than 2314 ng/gCre (n=52) (r=0.49, each athletes, results event-related differences had similar trend as those ferritin. future studies, further testing should be accomplished using larger numbers use athletes.

متن کامل[Meta-analysis of studies on cut-off value of serum ferritin for identifying iron deficiency].
OBJECTIVE To synthesize evidence to discuss the appropriate cut-off value of serum ferritin (SF) for identifying iron deficiency. METHODS A comprehensive electronic search and manual tracking were performed to collect potential studies on cut-off value of SF for identifying iron deficiency. Most relevant studies were identified according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and data were e...
متن کاملSerum iron and total iron-binding capacity compared with serum ferritin in assessment of iron deficiency.
Ferritin values for 250 selected sera were compared with values for iron, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), and transferrin saturation, to assess the potential of the ferritin assay for the detection of latent iron deficiency. The specimens were grouped (50 in each group) according to their values for iron and TIBC. In Group 1 (low iron, high TIBC) the saturation and ferritin values both indi...
